How to Apply PDF Print E-mail

The Burch Fellows selection process begins early each spring semester. Finalists are interviewed by the Burch Selection Committee in mid-February, and the new Burch Fellows are announced shortly thereafter. Application deadline: February 19, 2010.

Applicants for 2010 should submit the following:

  1. Application: One original copy of the application to the Honors Program Office (225 Graham Memorial) by February 19, 2010. Download the PDF application form (166 KB)

  2. Personal Statement and Fellowship Experience Proposal: In approximately 1000 words (typed, double spaced), describe the fellowship experience you propose and cite evidence of your qualifications for being selected as a Fellow. If your proposed experience requires obtaining special permission from companies, archives, government agencies, faculty members, or other individuals/organizations, letters of support or authorization may be separately attached. Please do not submit slides, tapes, examples of written work, or other supplementary materials with your application.

  3. Fellowship Experience Budget: As specifically as possible, list the expenses connected with the fellowship experience you describe. Wherever possible, these should be actual rather than estimated expenses. If estimated, indicate the basis for your estimate. Please total these expenses.

  4. Supporting Letters: Give a copy of your completed application (including the Recommendation Request Form) to two individuals who are in a position to (1) assess the promise you cite as the basis for your consideration as a Burch Fellow, and (2) comment on the likely benefit and feasibility of the fellowship experience you propose. Please ask them to send one original copy of their letter to the Honors Program Office, 225 Graham Memorial, CB 3510. These must arrive by February 19, 2010.

If your proposed experience requires obtaining special permission from companies, archives, government agencies, faculty members, or other individuals/organizations, letters of support or authorization may be separately attached.
  5. Resume: Attach a current personal resume, listing work experience, campus and community activities, high school/University honors and awards.

  6. Current Transcript: Please submit one original transcript.
